Can you produce samples with my brand’s custom labeling?

A

Yes, we can incorporate your brand's custom labeling, hangtags, and packaging into sample production. This includes woven labels, printed labels, care labels, hangtags, and polybag packaging with your branding. For sample stage, we can use mock-up labels to demonstrate the concept. For bulk production, we require your label artwork files and specifications (size, material, placement) 2 weeks before production starts. Custom labeling is part of our full OEM/ODM service offering.

Do you offer sample books or swatch cards?

A

Yes, we provide custom sample books and swatch cards for our B2B customers. A sample book typically includes 15–30 fabric swatches organized by category (fleece, waterproof, stretch, etc.) with specifications printed alongside each swatch. We can also create branded swatch cards with your company logo for presentation to your retail buyers. Sample books are complimentary for customers with confirmed orders exceeding 5,000 meters. For standalone requests, the cost is $50–$100 depending on the number of swatches.

What is the typical development timeline for a new custom fabric?

A

The full development cycle for a new custom fabric is typically 4–8 weeks: 1–2 weeks for fiber and yarn sourcing, 1–2 weeks for lab dip and handloom sample, 1–2 weeks for sample yardage production, and 1–2 weeks for testing and approval. Complex fabrics with multiple functional finishes or exotic fiber blends may take up to 12 weeks. We provide a detailed development timeline at the start of each project with milestone dates for each phase.

Can I visit your factory to see fabric production and samples?

Yes, we welcome factory visits by appointment. Visiting our facility allows you to see our production lines, QC processes, testing equipment, and sample showroom firsthand. We can arrange a guided tour covering knitting, dyeing, finishing, and quality inspection areas. For international visitors, we can assist with travel arrangements and provide a letter of invitation for visa purposes if needed. Contact us at least 2 weeks in advance to schedule a visit.

What is moisture-wicking fabric and how does it work?

A

Moisture-wicking fabric actively pulls sweat away from your skin and spreads it across the fabric surface for rapid evaporation, keeping you dry and comfortable. The technology works through capillary action — engineered fiber cross-sections (such as trilobal or channeled shapes) create microscopic pathways that transport moisture from the skin side (hydrophobic) to the outer surface (hydrophilic). High-performance moisture-wicking fabrics achieve top-surface wetting times below 3 seconds (AATCC 195) and vertical wicking heights exceeding 120mm in 10 minutes. This is fundamentally different from cotton, which absorbs moisture and holds it against the skin.

What does waterproof breathable fabric mean?

A

Waterproof breathable fabric prevents liquid water from penetrating while allowing water vapor (sweat) to escape, keeping you dry from both rain and perspiration. A

Water-resistant fabric repels light rain and splashes but will eventually saturate, while waterproof fabric prevents water penetration entirely under specified pressure. Water-resistant typically refers to fabrics with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating that causes water to bead and roll off, with hydrostatic head ratings below 1,500mm. Waterproof fabrics use membranes or coatings rated at 5,000mm or higher, capable of withstanding heavy rain and even water immersion. Breathable waterproof membranes (like PTFE or PU) add vapor transmission for comfort during activity.

How does anti-bacterial fabric work?

A

Anti-bacterial fabric inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria through silver ion technology, zinc-based treatments, or chitosan finishes that disrupt bacterial cell membranes. Silver ions (Ag+) are the most common and effective treatment — they bind to bacterial DNA and prevent replication, reducing bacterial colonies by 99%+ even after 50 wash cycles (AATCC 100 test method). Unlike topical deodorants that mask odor, anti-bacterial fabric prevents the root cause. A

High-stretch fabric elongates significantly under tension (typically 30–50% or more) and recovers to its original shape, providing freedom of movement and body-hugging fit. Stretch is achieved through elastane (spandex/Lycra) content (usually 5–20%) or through mechanical stretch in specially engineered knit structures. Benefits include enhanced mobility for athletic performance, reduced muscle fatigue through compression, improved garment fit across size ranges, and resistance to bagging and sagging. What is flame-retardant fabric and what standards does it meet?

A

Flame-retardant fabric resists ignition, self-extinguishes when the flame source is removed, and does not melt or drip — meeting international safety standards including EN ISO 11612, NFPA 2112, and EN 11611. There are two types: inherent flame retardant (FR properties built into the fiber, such as modacrylic or aramid) and treated FR (chemical finish applied to standard fabrics). Inherent FR is permanent and doesn't diminish with washing, while treated FR may lose effectiveness after 50–100 washes. Our FR fabrics are certified for protective clothing, military, and industrial applications.

What is high-abrasion-resistant fabric?

A

High-abrasion-resistant fabric withstands repeated surface friction without tearing or pilling, typically achieving Martindale abrasion ratings above 30,000 cycles. This performance is achieved through high-tenacity fibers (nylon, Cordura, aramid), tight weave constructions (ripstop, basket weave), and specialized coatings. Abrasion resistance is critical for outdoor gear, tactical clothing, workwear, and luggage where fabric contacts rough surfaces. Our high-abrasion fabrics use 500D–1000D nylon yarns and achieve Martindale ratings of 50,000+ cycles, far exceeding standard polyester fabrics (typically 10,000–15,000 cycles).

What is anti-static fabric and where is it used?

A

Anti-static fabric prevents the buildup of static electricity by dissipating electrical charges through conductive fibers or antistatic finishes. This is achieved by embedding carbon-core fibers, stainless steel threads, or applying conductive coatings that reduce surface resistivity to 10^6–10^9 ohms. Anti-static fabric is essential in environments where static sparks could ignite flammable materials (oil refineries, chemical plants, electronics manufacturing), damage sensitive electronics (cleanrooms, semiconductor fabs), or cause discomfort and dust attraction (cleanroom garments, carpets). What is a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish?

A

DWR is a chemical treatment applied to fabric surfaces that causes water to bead up and roll off rather than soaking in, maintaining the fabric's breathability and reducing weight gain from water absorption. DWR works by increasing the contact angle between water and the fabric surface — untreated fabric has a contact angle of 0–90° (water spreads), while DWR-treated fabric achieves 120–150° (water beads). DWR is not the same as waterproofing; it is a surface treatment that complements waterproof membranes by preventing the outer fabric from saturating. DWR effectiveness gradually diminishes with washing and wear but can be reactivated by heat (tumble dryer) or reapplied with spray-on products.

What is MVTR and why does it matter?

A

MVTR (Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate) measures how much water vapor passes through one square meter of fabric in 24 hours, expressed in g/m²/24h — higher numbers mean better breathability. MVTR is the key metric for evaluating breathable fabrics: 5,000 g/m²/24h is suitable for light activity, 10,000 for moderate activity, and 20,000+ for high-exertion sports. MVTR is tested per ASTM E96 or ISO 11092 (RET method). A fabric with MVTR below 5,000 will feel clammy during intense activity, while above 15,000 provides excellent comfort even during heavy sweating.
